Administration and management

Body Text

In this section of the website, we explore the different aspects of managing and administering your sports club.  Of course, your club is primarily about sport, and few people want to spend a lot of time on the mechanics of committee meetings, constitutions, rules and policies.

However, it will help your club to run much more smoothly if you get these basic arrangements in place relatively early.  Then, when you do encounter a problem or two, you have some guidelines to refer to.  As your club grows and becomes more successful you will probably need to re-visit the constitution and policies and update them to reflect your changing circumstances.

A quick guide to the topics

Use the sidebar navigation links to select from:

  1. Constitutions gives you an overview of what they do, and provides a simple Constitution template which you can download and adapt to your own needs.
  2. Meetings offers a summary of both whole club meetings and committee meetings.
  3. Policies and procedures looks at some of the issues to help your club plan ahead and devise appropriate arrangements; these include Child Protection, and Health and Safety as well as the important subject of sports ethics and fair play
  4. Club structures provides a summary of the various different legal forms and structures that your club might take, including Unincorporated Association, Company Limited by Guarantee, and a Charity.
  5. General legal guidance offers some pointers to further sources of legal help for your sports club
