Body Text

At the heart of your club is the programme of competitions, training, coaching, matches, leagues and social activities that you provide for your members.  This is what attracts your members to join - and keeps them in membership.  Each person wants to enjoy the sport at their own level; many want to improve their skills; some want to engage in competition with others.  And most members will also enjoy some social events with their friends in the club.

kilwinning sports clubThe Articles side panel lists more specific guidance on:

  • Organising competitions and leagues
  • The UK Coaching Certificate scheme
  • Club / School links
  • Junior Club development

From time to time in any sports club, you can encounter problems with specific members of players.  That's why it's important to have in place a Code of Conduct or Fair Play Statement.  The Running Sport: Getting it Right booklet is an excellent guide to sports ethics, disciplinary procedures and appeals and you can download it from the Resources panel.
