What support is available for coaches?

For further advice on training and supporting the development of coaches, you should make contact with the following organisations linked in the 'See also' panel:

  • Your Scottish National Governing Body, who will have on officer or volunteer whose role it is to identify train and deploy coaches. Each SGB will have a database of active coaches. SGBs have the lead responsibility for the development of coaches and should be your first point of contact.

  • sports coach UK, which now incorporates the National Coaching Federation, and provides a wide range of training programme for coaches on a national basis. A series of sports coach UK workshops are available to be delivered for coaches and these can be accessed through your Local Authority or sportscotland.

 

  • An increasing number of local authorites and regional groups, including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Tayside and Fife, Grampian, The Scottish Borders, Dumfries and Galloway, West Lothian and Highland have developed extensive sports coaching programmes and links to their online pages (where available) are provided in the Index page in the right-side panel. All other local authorities will have an officer with a responsibility for coaching and should be contacted for assistance
