No doubt when your club is successful you'll also want to tell everyone else about it.

The best way of doing this is to create Press Release and distribute it to the media.  It's worth drawing up a list of the contact details for local newspapers, radio and TV stations; who usually should send your press releases to their News Desks.

A list of all the newspapers in Scotland can be found at: http://www.wrx.zen.co.uk/scotland.htm

Before you approach the press, it is best to do your homework. Familiarise yourself with your local newspapers and see the type of stories they print, how often and the areas they cover. You should also find out how they prefer the information to be sent to them and the deadlines they work to.

A good press release will tell the journalist all the information they need to know – who is doing what, when, where and why! A press release template can be downloaded from the Documents section in the right hand panel.

Try to keep your press release short and a picture will improve the chance of your story being published. You can either supply a photo or organise a photocall. Don’t forget to include your contact details.

Remember you can also contact local radio news desks. Local contact details can be found at http://www.radio-now.co.uk/scot.htm
