male volunteer
  • keep the organisation running

There are role descriptions for several of the most important volunteer roles in the Resources panel.  For more role descriptions, see the Templates page.

Why do people volunteer?

Understanding how and why people volunteer to assist your club will help you to provide them with right support and recognition.

Typically, volunteers cite a range of motives with one or two of the following being most important:

  • work with others
  • use existing skills
  • develop new skills
  • “put back” into the sport
  • support family member
  • feel valued
  • influence others
  • gain status
  • have fun
